WILLIAM J SEYMOUR was a African American Revivalist who lived between May 2, 1870 – September 28, 1922.  He was a  preacher of the gospel who walked in great signs, miracles, and wonders. He was commissioned during a time of great racial conflict and tension. Regardless of it all, he carried on the mission God had for him. GOD chose WILLIAM SEYMOUR and operated through him powerfully in such a way, where he and along with the help of others birth the AZUSA STREET REVIVALS in California.  Miracles, signs, and wonders would break out in small groups, prayer meetings, services, and even street corners. The glory of God could not be contained or controlled. Wherever the holy spirit lead him the people of God were open for him to speak while other churches were offended because he was a black man that was endowed with power from on high. Unfortunately, over time other churches caught wind of William J Seymour and immediately wanted to separate themselves from him because he was a African American. They were tied to the culture of racial division that affected even the body of Christ at that time and even today. How could a man who loves God so much to the point where he would preach with a wooden box over his head as a way of keeping the attention away from himself still be pushed away by mature believers in the faith? brothers and sisters in Christ? Regardless of their wicked efforts, William Seymour carried on and eventually the Lord blessed him to have his own building where he would never be rejected in that way again.

BERT BRIDGES REPORT - In my opinion the Glory could have lasted longer and we could have scene greater impact from that unique moment in American Church history. Due to my church background and my taste to cross pollinate as the spirit leads to various denominations. I realize in order to maintain continue a true move of God, the love of God and unity in the spirit must be one of the pillars. The holy spirit moves and flows through a culture of unity and true community amongst believers. The book of acts and many other scripture/texts cover this. During this time of great racial tension and divide, the church must stand up and come to it's own dividing line of what it will tolerate moving forward as a body. For the Lord is only returning to a bride that is ready and that is spotless bearing much fruity in her season. 

Will the next move of God be quenched because of division? control, jealousy? or corruption? I pray we all look back as a true body and learn from those who went before us so we can avoid the pitfalls from the past. For it is time to see new moves of God to break out over the world. 

Let's pray - Lord we thank you for what you are doing in Asbury, Kentucky and what you are igniting in the Land of America! We need revival Lord not just on belalf of the nation and it's leaders, but we need revival in our own lives, families, and friends. Let us know and understand that revival and repentene first began with us. Let us judge ourselves first before we look for others to judge. For you are the judge of all things and we ask that you give us grace to judge ourselves first before you judge us. I thank you for this opportunity to write this post during a very dynamic time in history. For America will be saved and it is poised for a might shaking. Let your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. We are your body and we will legislate heavens will into the earth. America, you will be saved!

BERT BRIDGES - WHO IS BERT BRIDGES?

I am a Bridge Builder and connector of communities, people, coalitions, ideas, events, and much more. I learned very quickly that my degree and other experiences were simply tools in my toolbox of life. I realized that traveling and meeting people from various backgrounds and walks of life would be my catalyst and place of development. While at the same time learning various skills and professional experiences only empowered my vision to build and empower others to think sustainability and longevity.

Ever since my father passed away back in 2020, I've come to realize how much of an influence he had on my life positively. As a reminder, I decided to go by the name 'Bert Bridges' because my father was a bridge builder and encourager of people, communities, and relationships.

My path of self-discovery, trailblazing, exploration, and development through travel has prepared me for even greater opportunities and possibilities. It's been empowering to filter, analyze, and process experiences and encounters with the tools I've gathered along the way.

So the name "Bert Bridges" is what I go by. If you heard me in real life I would introduce myself by saying, "Bert Bridges is my name and building Bridges is my game!
